I’ve never spoken on writer’s block specifically because it’s never been an issue for me. Yeah maybe I’m bragging. But hear me out, being able to write willingly is one of God’s greatest gifts to me—because my mistakes have proven to be tenfold.
Like a comedian, a writer in their context of art is permitted to say what they’re willing to risk having to back up. Although there are consequences for everything we say and do, giving yourself limits can make art too targeting. Personally, I can tell when a comedian, writer, poet, rapper or singer is appealing to an audience. And by no means is there anything wrong with that.
What it does is create separation, division, and exclusion. Ironically, this is where I shoot myself in the foot. It’s the space between becoming a hack and creatively writing so freely that people don’t get where the f*ck I’m coming from.
And I don’t care.
When writing you get my heart, my skill, and the point of my journey at the moment I’m writing. There’s nothing authentic about what I do, besides the peculiar nature of the content I decide to publish.
I would never advise someone to go about a journey the way I do. I lack faith in the ideas that success can be duplicated. If a creator’s been able to get a target audience, take them and run with them. Art is about allowing the content to flow easily so that it doesn’t look like a struggle.
No one wants to follow someone struggling. Unless they were successful before.
If you often find yourself unable to create, write, or do your thing, you’re in over your head.
In the meantime, go do the dishes and write or sing about that.
Okay?
Thanks.
Bye 🙂
