Look Of Me

Photo taken of LA CARA DEL INDIO—sculpture in the city of Isabela, Puerto Rico

Basking in your shadow,

Masking beams of light,

Dimming as you shade,

Your gleam….

It bends through night,

Recluse and so you hide,

Elusive to your light,

Repulsed but—

You ain’t shy…

Step out and let it lie,

Your aura, it glides,

Like starlight, it’s bright,

Don’t change when all is tied,

Don’t say that you just tried,

Don’t even when in binds,

But show up and let it die,

Old ways, old days,

Put on that branded cape,

Let fly—let drape,

The light and let them praise,

Those struggles from your grace,

Which carved your stony face,

Unveiled your noble fate,

And destined look of gaze,
