After the PILOT episode this Wednesday, January 9th 2019, we’ll be looking to build a guest list for individuals who’d like to join in on a discussion. I will provide more information after the New Year on discussion topics, who we’d like to invite, and what value we look to bring to each and every episode.
Our topics will be broad from politics, history, race, economics, and millennial stuff! Because according to some internet pages out there, I’m a millennial😊
With that said, I have dark skin. I check off ‘black/African-American’ on forms I fill out. Which is irrelevant, but I can easily speak about the black people stuff in a way that most ‘white’ people get curious about.
…this one time at band camp
I once had a conversation with two white men. A baseline 30 minute conversation at best. When we spoke on politics they were level headed but seemed more interested in my views. Which was something they had never heard apparently. Or, maybe they were surprised to hear those views from a black man.
Their political views seemed rather liberal/conservative, in a way that they understood world history and what’s going on in America today. They were working class citizens like myself at the time, but I would have never guessed. #Merica’
By the way, I’m friends with one of those guys on Facebook, and he’s an avid Trump supporter.
So, maybe there is a paradigm out there where most people don’t like to explore, because it’s too empty. Like the void they felt a ‘new’ leader in America would bring them.
Back to the PODCAST. But first meet ‘cousin’:
Ramon Benton, born and raised in Portland, Oregon and still residing in the ever-changing weather of PDX. After graduating from the ‘best’ PIL (Portland Interscholastic League) high school in the pacific northwest, Grant High School, Ramon went off to attend the illustrious Historical Black College, Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. Tuskegee University is where all his debts and dreams were dreaded once he received his honorable Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a focus in social work. After years of work in the community, Ramon decided to go back to school to collect more debt, enrolling into Portland State University’s Social Work program to earn his master’s in social work. He is currently a therapist and clinical social worker on his way to earning his LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). Since graduating 12 years ago, Ramon has worked in various social services roles with adults, young adults, children and families. Ramon also works at a behavioral health hospital to help fund his traveling and well eating habits, along with his well-being of lifestyle in a world of irrelevant noise. Needless to say, Ramon loves to travel, meet new people and embrace experiences from all walks of life! He’s a huge fan of Japanese anime and African culture across the diaspora. He plans to travel to Africa in 2019. Next up for Ramon, he’ll be starting his own travel blog, Melanated Traveling Man! There will also be a YouTube channel where his experiences will be shared. Ramon is excited to begin this new journey as a black, woke nerd discussing various topics of our generation, culture and history! #MeetingOfTheMinds.
And for Me, ya’ll read about me. I’ve done everything but get this PODCAST started, but The Stu’ is threw. We’ll be below speaking through radio waves to inspire you. I built a studio to further show how simple words and understanding can inspire you. A lot of people just scroll, unfollow, because it often get’s less Likes, so they stop following you. But I can speak all day on those failing few, because they can be subjective, like split personality dude. Read and share my stories, my goal was for them to be significant inspiring stories. Because they’re just a thought today, an irrelevant worry. I often say, when it speaks, it doesn’t shut up! However, The Stu’ is threw, and I’ll speak only when I feel it’ll inspire you. Like my father, RIP too… Because the people often came to him, he often had his too’s He aspired, thus I built The Stu’. Shout out Home Depot and Lowe’s, Where I bought most my tools. But now that The Stu’ is threw, I got a studio below to speak and further inspire you.
